Historic Berry Plains

Our family was fortunate to purchase this historic farm in 2021. We carefully renovated the  1830s farmhouse and constructed equestrian facilities. 

We soon realized that the beauty of this area needs to be celebrated. No better way than from the back of a horse. 

In 2022, we began to build private hunt string and developing their skills in the field. We work with several local riders who help us keep the horses fit and out with the hounds. 

Berry Plains offers 160 acres of hacking and pastures for our herd. We have a 80x100' Hitchcock pen and building a cross country schooling course with many opportunities to trailer out. 

Sarah got into hunting through Redland Hunt Pony Club and rode with Howard County Iron Bridge Hounds where she earned her buttons and was a hunt groom for Pleasant Prospect Farm. In college, Sarah went out regularly with Longreen Foxhounds in Mississippi and Tennessee, earning her colors and assisting with whipping in. While in Northern Virginia, Sarah enjoyed capping with the many local clubs. And upon moving to Amherst, Sarah became very active with Oak Ridge and is now the New Membership Coordinator for the club. She also an Associate Member with Bedford County and is part of trail crew for Fleetwood Community Center's Fundraising Trail Ride.  Sarah is also a former Director at Large for the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America. 

Sarah also stays busy managing her Irish Sport Horse breeding program, Taproot Stud.
